BIO
Having grown from humble beginnings in Zambia to international acclaim as an electric laser violinist, Caitlin is not only a dynamic musician but a daredevil of a performer, taking violin playing to the extreme with her on-stage antics as well as in her music.
Defying the tradition of instrumental-pop which is so closely associated with the electric violin and experimenting with a fusion of rock and euro-trance, Caitlin is not afraid to break away from the norm. From performing on the tops of buses, front-end loaders, and tractors to sliding across stages on her knees or flying through the air in exhilarating aerial acts, her live shows are nothing less than explosive!
At 14 Caitlin took off, gaining national media attention when she was awarded a scholarship to attend the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, USA. Aside from this two month intensive course, Caitlin is a completely self-taught musician, a point that always amazes her audiences.
From playing at local events in Zambia and for Zambian government, Caitlin has since performed for Royalty, Presidents & World leaders including HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester, Prime Ministers: Mauritius’ Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam and Kenya’s Raila Amolo Odinga; Presidents: South Africa’s Jacob Zuma, Lesotho’s Pakalitha Mosisili, Rwanda’s Paul Kagame, former Zambian presidents Kenneth Kaunda, Rupiah Banda and the late Levy Mwanawasa; former U.S President Bill Clinton and former secretary general of the United Nations Kofi Annan.
In 2007 Caitlin left home soil for the more competitive and faster paced South African entertainment industry. Over the next year and a half, she went from turning heads and captivating audiences at small dinner events to ending 2008 on a high, performing for Miss. World 2008. She then travelled further afield, for the first time taking her electrifying show outside of Southern Africa, to Ghana.
Caitlin’s distinctive sound, style, and energy continued to develop and diversify between 2009 and the end of 2010. She embraced her wild-child tendencies by pioneering the world’s first laser-violin while simultaneously developing an aerial-violin act. Beyond South Africa and Zambia, international performances of these acts in Malawi, Seychelles, Mauritius and again in Ghana, confirmed that Caitlin had found her calling as an ‘extreme’ electric violinist.

Setting her own trends and surpassing them, as though using lasers and performing upside down while flying through the air wasn’t enough, Caitlin made New Year’s Eve 2010 a night to remember. In one of the world’s biggest fountains at Silverstar Casino, Johannesburg, Caitlin took centre-stage for the filming of an ambitious production; showing that even 60m high jets of water and rain are no match for her act!
From the energetic burst of sound, water, and electricity at the beginning of the year, Caitlin is setting off to take the world by storm. Having made her European debut in Vienna, Austria in June 2011 as part of the production ‘South Africa in Colours’, she went on to perform for the same production in Budva, Montenegro in July 2011 – both events received rave reviews and exceptional media coverage. Other international performances for 2011 included events in Mauritius, Bangkok, Kuwait, New York and Namibia.
With the successful Zambian launches of her debut DVD ‘The Show Must Go On’ in October 2011, Caitlin confirmed her popularity at home with sold out shows, fantastic press coverage and hundreds of DVD sales. Since the opening of her online store in November 2011, DVD’s have been sold across the globe from Mexico to Australia; throughout Europe and the USA.
Her energy will not be tamed. She’s exhilarating, airborne, and daring. Watch Caitlin closely, because the only thing we can be sure to expect is…the unexpected.
